EmeraldCV isn't somewhere your CV gets stuck. Here is every way in and out, and what each one carries.
PDFs
Every CV downloads as a PDF with real, selectable text, working links for your email, phone and websites, and the fonts embedded. The fonts are open-source (SIL Open Font License), so you can send and share the PDF anywhere. There is no watermark, on any plan.
JSON Resume
JSON Resume is an open standard for CVs that many tools read and write. From the editor's export menu, any CV downloads as a JSON Resume, as that CV shows it: your details and summary, work, volunteering, education and courses, awards, certificates, publications, projects, skills, languages, interests and references.
To bring one in, use Bring a CV on your account page. EmeraldCV adds what your profile doesn't have yet, and tells you how much was already there, so nothing you wrote is overwritten.
The EmeraldCV file
Download everything on your account page gives you one JSON file with all of it: every profile, every CV with its design, layout, hidden pieces and its own wording, and your photos. It is plain JSON, readable in any text editor, and its format only ever grows: a file from today will still come back in years.
Bring it back with Bring a CV. Into an empty account it restores everything as it was; into one with CVs, it adds what it holds, within your plan.

Delete your account from your account page and everything in it goes at once: profiles, CVs and photos. A running subscription is ended first, so you are never charged for an account that's gone, and we send one last email to say it's done. Read more in the Privacy Policy.
Any device
EmeraldCV runs in the browser, so your CVs are the same on a phone, a tablet or a computer, on any system. Nothing to install, and nothing tied to one company's devices.
