Terms of Use

These terms are an agreement between you and the operator of EmeraldCV (“we” or “us”). They govern your use of emeraldcv.com and the EmeraldCV service. By making an account, you agree to them and acknowledge our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use EmeraldCV.

What EmeraldCV is

EmeraldCV is a service for writing CVs. You keep a profile of your experience and make CVs from it in designs, check how hiring systems read them, and download them as PDFs.

Your account

You need an account to make CVs. Keep your sign-in details to yourself and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. You must be old enough to form a contract where you live.

Your content

Everything you write and upload is yours. You give us only the permission we need to store it, lay it out, check it and show it to you, for as long as you keep it with us. We claim no other rights to it.

You are responsible for what you write and share, including having the right to use photos and information about other people. What your CVs say is yours to stand behind: EmeraldCV lays out what you write and offers hints, and does not check that it is true or right for a particular job.

Taking your content with you

You can download your CVs as PDFs, any CV as a JSON Resume, and everything you made as one file, at any time and on any plan. Keep copies of anything that matters to you.

Acceptable use

Do not use EmeraldCV to break the law, to infringe anyone's rights, to deceive employers about who you are, or to harm the service or other people using it, for example by overloading it, probing it for weaknesses without permission, or reaching data that isn't yours. We may suspend or close an account that does.

The free plan and Pro

EmeraldCV is free to use. The free plan includes one profile and one CV, edited without limits, with PDFs in the Emerald design and the result of each hiring-system check. EmeraldCV Pro adds every other design, more profiles and CVs, the full hiring-system report with its fixes, and an ATS-safe copy of a CV when one helps. You can try every design with your own CV before buying Pro; Pro is needed to download a Pro design's PDF.

Pro is offered in two ways, and both include designs and features we add to Pro later. Weekly is a subscription that renews every week at the price shown when you subscribed, until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from the Pro page in your account; cancelling stops the next payment, and Pro continues until the end of the week you paid for. Lifetime is a single payment that does not renew, and includes Pro for as long as EmeraldCV is offered.

Payments are processed by Stripe. Prices are shown in US dollars before you pay. If Pro ends, nothing you made is locked or removed: your profiles and CVs stay yours to edit, download in Emerald and export.

If you live in the European Union or another country that gives consumers a right to withdraw from a purchase, you keep that right as the law sets it out.

EmeraldCV's software and name

EmeraldCV's software, designs, name and logo belong to us or our licensors. The fonts in your PDFs are open-source fonts under the SIL Open Font License, which lets you use and share the PDFs freely.

Changes to EmeraldCV

We may improve, change or remove features, or stop offering EmeraldCV. If we stop offering it, we will tell you in advance and give you time to download everything you made.

Disclaimer of warranties

To the extent permitted by law, EmeraldCV is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. Hints, page fitting and the hiring-system check help you; they do not guarantee how any employer or hiring system will treat your CV.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, content or profits, arising from or related to EmeraldCV or these terms. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims related to EmeraldCV is limited to the amount you paid us for EmeraldCV in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or under mandatory consumer protection law. If you live in the European Union or another country with such laws, you keep every right those laws give you.

Ending these terms

You can stop using EmeraldCV and delete your account at any time from your account page. Deleting it ends a running subscription and these terms.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When a change matters, we will say so on this page and update the date above before it takes effect. If you keep using EmeraldCV after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms.

General

These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about EmeraldCV. If any part of them is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we do not enforce a right, we have not given it up.
